Karmod CEO, Hakeem Shagaya

Nigerian developers are not building fast enough to meet the demand for affordable housing, in large part because of high lending rates. This is why KARMOD is building prefabricated bungalows that are certified green with EDGE. Hakeem Shagaya, the CEO of KARMOD Nigeria, describes how each of his prefab homes will have solar panels with a lithium battery that can be metered. The resulting energy can power lighting, a refrigerator, television, and a phone charger, with backup battery time for at night. The homes can be built in five days.

“EDGE in Nigeria: Prefabricated Green Bungalows” is a production of Lalo de la Cerda. thinkstep-SGS is the exclusive provider of EDGE certification services in Nigeria.
