Company Overview

We are a leading prefabricated modular construction company delivering rapid, high-quality, and cost-effective building solutions. Our projects span commercial, residential, and industrial sectors across West Africa. We manufacture modular components in-house and assemble on-site, leveraging innovative manufacturing processes, lean production, and rigorous quality control to meet deadlines and client specifications.

Job Purpose

To lead the production and quality control functions for our modular construction operations, ensuring safe, on-time production of modular components, adherence to technical specifications, quality standards, and client requirements, while optimising efficiency, waste reduction, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities: Production Management

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate the end-to-end production of modular components (off-site fabrication and assembly processes).
  • Develop and implement production workflows, production plans, and capacity planning to meet project milestones and demand.
  • Manage production resources (labor, equipment, materials) and optimize production efficiency, cycle times, and throughput.
  • Monitor and control production costs, waste, scrap, rework, and inventory levels; implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, environmental regulations, and site-specific health and safety plans.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials and components to sites or fabrication yards.
  • Develop and maintain production KPIs (throughput, OEE, cycle time, yield, on-time delivery, safety metrics).
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen) to improve quality, efficiency, and cost.

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Establish and implement a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) for off-site fabrication and on-site assembly.
  • Define and monitor quality standards, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria for all modular components.
  • Lead QA/QC activities including incoming material inspection, in-process inspections, final component testing, dimensional control, and non-conformance management.
  • Oversee corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), root cause analysis, and trend analysis to reduce defects.
  • Manage calibration and maintenance of metrology and testing equipment; ensure traceability and documentation.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and project teams to resolve quality issues early in the process.
  • Prepare QA/QC reports, quality dashboards, and audit findings for management and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international standards relevant to West Africa (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 where applicable, local building codes, and construction standards).

HSE & Compliance

  • Champion health, safety, and environmental performance across production sites and yards.
  • Develop and enforce HSE policies, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications, contractual requirements, and regulatory permits.

People & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop the production and QC teams; recruit and retain skilled technicians, supervisors, and inspectors.
  • Foster a culture of quality, safety, and accountability; provide performance feedback and career development paths.
  • Liaise with clients, project managers, site managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to align expectations and deliverables.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain robust documentation: production records, quality manuals, inspection reports, non-conformance logs, and material test certificates.
  • Ensure timely reporting of production status, quality issues, and risk to senior management.
  • Manage readiness for external audits, client inspections, and certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, CQE, CQA) are desirable.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in production management and quality control within modular construction, prefabrication, off-site manufacturing, or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of modular construction processes, fit-out, assembly, and on-site commissioning.
  • Proficiency with quality management systems (QMS), inspection and test plans, non-conformance handling, CAPA, and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, local building codes, material standards).
  • Experience with lean manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping) and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, MES, and project management software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; data-driven decision-maker.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.

Desired Qualities

  • Results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments with sensitive stakeholder management.
  • Comfortable with travel to fabrication yards and project sites as required.
  • Proactive in risk assessment and mitigation planning.

Benefits & Opportunities

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus performance-based bonuses.
